Eighth Wonder Leads Singapore Casino Bid

Eighth Wonder leads the way for the second resort casino in Singapore.

The second resort casino will be located on Sentosa Island. The casino is expected to attract 4 million to 6 million visitors annually.

Chairman Mark Advent said that the Eighth Wonder is jointly bidding along with Isle of Capri Casinos Inc and Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide Inc. and other partners that will provide expertise in entertainment and retail aspect.

The casino resort is part of the eight billion Singapore dollars or five billion US dollars effort by the Singapore government to make Sentosa attract more tourists in the area.

Singapore had scrapped the ban on casinos last year and had allowed two gaming resorts in the area.

The first casino license was awarded to Las Vegas Sands Corp in May.

Chairman Advent said that Eighth Wonder will spend more than one billion dollars on the Sentosa casino resort which will include a theme park, hotel and shops.

The Sentosa casino licenses are due to be given out in October and the lucky bidder will be announced before the year ends.

Eighth Wonder had developed three casino resorts including the New York New York casino resort in Las Vegas.

Eighth Wonder also has other casino projects in Europe.
